obsessed...

If I could sum it all up in one word, “obsession” comes to mind.  I have called it both a blessing and a curse, as my mind constantly wanders to a place where I transform meaningless objects into something of interest.   This becomes frustrating when I can not always drop my schedule and create…. A trailer that I brought in to serve as a studio has also become a storage unit for my many “treasures” – I have been known to pick up skulls, snake skins, egg shells, feathers, interesting rocks and pieces of wood. Each of these items, as I lift it from its current resting place, provides me with a vision…. which I carefully jot down notes and store until I can find that sacred time to get into that special zone and see what happens.  Most of my pieces start with a vision in mind and are carefully manipulated to completion.  There are times when I go back to pieces much later and re-work them as new ideas surface.  I work with so many types of media, that I am not able to focus on any one style.  I’ve often been told to choose a certain style and move forward, but when I ask myself the question “which style would I not be able to live without using?” – my answer is clear:  My style is the craziness, the challenge of trying anything, whether painting, jewelry making, working with glass, clay, rocks, skulls… and I can’t have it any other way! … Kathy R.
